COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State (4-0) will face Lock Haven (1-2) at 1 p.m. Monday followed by a dual with Northern Iowa at 3 p.m. at the 2022 Collegiate Duals. The event is being held at the Convention Center in New Orleans Dec. 19-20. The Buckeyes will wrestle an opponent to be determined Tuesday as well.
- The recent dual win over Kent State was career victory No. 298 for Tom Ryan, head coach of the Buckeyes. Ryan is 298-145-2 over his career, which includes 11 years at Hofstra (109-82-2) and 17 at Ohio State (189-63).
- Ohio State is 5-1 all-time vs. Lock Haven and 7-7 vs. Northern Iowa. This will be the fourth neutral meeting with the Panthers in the last five matches. The Buckeyes have won two of the last three in the series on neutral mats. Overall, Ohio State has been victorious in seven of the last 10 vs. UNI. The Buckeyes have won the last four meetings with The Haven, the last being a 37-3 win at the National Duals in 2002. The Buckeyes are 3-1 at neutral sites vs. Lock Haven.
- The Buckeyes were one of 34 teams in the 2022 Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas Dec. 2-3. The Buckeyes finished tied for the No. 8 spot with 82.5 points. Sammy Sasso (149) won his bracket with a 5-0 record, which included wins over No. 7 Yahya Thomas of Northwestern and No. 5 Kyle Parco of Arizona State. Kaleb Romero finished fourth at 184 with Malik Heinselman (125) came in fifth.
- Sasso was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the 2022 Cliff Keen Invitational and then earned Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors (12/6/22).
- Gavin Bell (184) and Mike Misita (HWT) both won their brackets at the 2022 Storm Open Dec. 4. Brady Koontz (125), Alex Flerlage (133) and Klay Reeves (149) finished second in their respective brackets.
- The No. 3 Buckeyes put together a pair of dual wins over the span of three days in mid-November at home vs. Columbia (W, 33-6) and at No. 17 North Carolina (W, 33-9). Tate Orndorff (HWT) posted a pair of victories by fall. Malik Heinselman (125), Jesse Mendez (133), Carson Kharchla (165), Kaleb Romero (184) and Gavin Hoffman (197) all won both their bouts in the wins.
