Buckeyes Set for Competition in New York and Philadelphia

COLUMBUS, Ohio – This weekend, the No. 5 Ohio State men’s fencing team and No. 7 Buckeye women’s fencing squad is headed east for two events. Saturday, the Buckeyes will compete in the St. John’s Invitational in Queens, N.Y., while Sunday will be the Philly Invite, hosted by UPenn in Philadelphia. Both the men and women will compete in five rounds each day.

The Buckeyes This Season

  • The Ohio State men have posted a 15-4 record, while the women are 13-5.
  • The season opened at home, with the Ohio State Open Oct. 29, followed by the Ohio State Duals the next day. In the duals, the Buckeyes were undefeated, with both the men and women 6-0.
  • At the Western Invitational in Colorado Nov. 5-6, the men posted a 7-1 record and the women were 4-3.
  • The final fall team event was the Elite Invitational in Philadelphia Nov. 19. The women notched a 3-2 mark on the day, with the men 2-3.

Looking Ahead

  • The Buckeyes will compete at the Northwestern Duals Feb. 4-5 in Evanston, Ill.
  • The Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championships will be held at Ohio State Feb. 25-26.
  • NCAA competition starts with regionals March 11 in Evanston, Ill., and the NCAA Championships will be March 23-26 in Durham, N.C.
