Buckeyes Return a Talented Front Line

Share

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns its starting forward line from last season and what a talented line it is. Senior Kayla Fischer is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree. She enters the season sixth in program history with 239 career shots and her 20 goals and 17 assists both rank in the Top 15 in on the OSU career charts.

Fellow senior Emma Sears has 13 career goals, including a hat trick each of the last two seasons. She earned second team All-Big Ten accolades as a sophomore in the spring of 2021. Kailyn Dudukovich had a standout freshman campaign last season, leading the team with seven goals and finishing with 17 points. She earned third team All-Big Ten honors and was a member of the All-Freshman Team a season ago.

The trio of Fischer, Sears and Dudukovich were the top three scorers on the team and took over 57 percent of the team’s shots in 2021. They could be one of the top front lines in the Big Ten this season.

Up front, the Buckeyes also return junior Chloe DeLyser who stepped into a bigger role last year as a sophomore. She scored the first two goals of her career, including a huge goal in the 2-1 win over rival Michigan last October. Sophomore Tatum Adamson saw action in six contest last year as a true freshman and Sydney Browning is looking to step in as she returns healthy after redshirting last season.

The Buckeyes will also look upon a pair of talented freshmen up front in Coley Sidloski and Dakota Lyons. Sidloski was a national finalist with Cleveland FC and she also led Strongsville to a state title in 2020. Lyons helped lead Eclipse Select to an ECNL 2021 National Championship and she was also a state qualifier on the track, finishing fifth in the 400-meter run.

Associate head coach Brian Jankowski’s thoughts on the forwards

Kayla Fischer
One of the most dangerous wide players in all of college soccer. A captain, Kayla has proven that she is as capable of leading as she is creating and scoring goals. Kayla’s accolades have included multiple All Big Ten selections, Academic All-American, and the Big Ten sportsmanship award.

Emma Sears
Emma Sears has worked very hard to combine her speed with power and finesse. Emma has twice placed her name on the Scarlet Boot, given to the Buckeyes’ highest points earner for goals and assists. Emma can create not only with her speed but also with her ball skill and timing to finish chances from crosses. Emma has several multiple goal games to her credit including two games where she scored herself a hat trick.

Kailyn Dudukovich
A dynamic, “everything” center forward, Kailyn is poised to enter her second season for the Buckeyes after earning All Big-Conference All-Big Freshman team honors. Kailyn not only can finish but is a wonderful passer of the ball and excellent at holding the ball up to bring her teammates into the game. She can score and has scored in many different ways.

Chloe DeLyser
A dynamic back to goal center forward, Chloe DeLyser has scored some very important goals in her Buckeye career. Known for her work rate and finishing capability, Chloe also has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. This Western NY Flash Academy product should see valuable minutes this fall for the Buckeyes.

Tatum Adamson
Hailing from Milwaukee, Wis., Tatum Adamson’s determination and work ethic have made her a favorite amongst her teammates and coaches. Tatum is always known to have a book in her hand while in the Schumaker Center and on the field possesses amazing quickness and a knack for taking players on in one-against-one duels.

Sydney Browning
A Dublin, Ohio native, Sydney Browning entered Ohio State rehabbing an injury and is working her way back to full fitness this fall. Syd, as her teammates call her, is an amazing athlete who plays with her heart on her sleeve. She possesses a team first mentality and does whatever it takes to win. A healthy Sydney Browning will cause havoc to an opponent who challenges her.

Nicole “Coley” Sidloski
Securing a state championship her junior year in high school with Strongsville High School is just one of the accolades for this speedy forward. In that same game, Coley was named Athlete of the Match. Coley played club soccer for Dave Sidloski with the Cleveland Futbol Club and most recently Cleveland Evolution. Coley uses her speed and power not only in front of goal but also in pursuit of her opponents.

Dakota Lyons
This standout winger from Chicago and the Chicago Eclipse soccer club will add depth to the wide positions. Dakota is a rapid and crafty outside forward who loves to run at players with the ball and does so with flare and tenacity. Dakota can score goals with either foot and has the stamina to make constant runs at the goal. Expect exciting things from this young forward.
