Buckeyes Head to Auburn For NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team is headed to Auburn, Ala. this week for the 2022 NCAA Regionals. The Buckeyes compete Thursday, March 31 at Auburn’s Neville Arena against No. 15 Denver, #2 Florida and the winner of the first round dual meet between Iowa State and Western Michigan.

The regional will begin with a first-round dual meet between Iowa State and Western Michigan on Wednesday, with the highest-scoring team moving on to the second round’s evening session. The second round consists of two sessions on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET, respectively. The top two teams from each session advance to the regional final on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET. Ohio State will compete in the second session against No. No. 1 seed Florida, No. 4 seed Denver and the winner of the first round matchup. The first session features No. 2 seed Auburn, No. 3 seed Kentucky, Georgia and Southern Utah.

Ohio State enters the NCAA regional round following a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Big Ten Championships. The team scored a program-high conference championship score of 196.700. Colby Miller led the Buckeyes with a Big Ten title on uneven bars, earning a 9.950 to tie for the win.

Ohio State also scored a program-record 49.425 on uneven bars at the Big Ten Championship. Alexis Hankins also earned a podium finish at the meet with a 9.900 to tie for fifth overall.


The Buckeyes are making their 43rd appearance at an NCAA Regional this week with the trip to Auburn. Last season, Ohio State advanced to the regional finals with a season-high score of 196.525.

Ohio State’s best finish at NCAAs is eighth, last reached in 1987. The team has reached eighth place three times in program history and has finished top-10 five times. The last time the Buckeyes reached the NCAA Championship was in 2012.


For the second year in a row, the Buckeyes’ highest-ranked event this season headed into NCAAs is uneven bars. The team is 14th nationally with a 49.285 qualifying score. Ohio State recorded a program-best uneven bars score of 49.425 at the Big Ten Championships. The Buckeyes have scored a 9.9 or better 12 times this season, paced by Miller who has hit the mark five times this year.


Ohio State sits at No. 17 with a national qualifying score of 196.890. Big Ten teams in the Top 25 include No. 3 Michigan, No. 8 Minnesota, No. 12 Michigan State, No. 19 Illinois, No. 20 Maryland and No. 22 Iowa. The Buckeyes rank 14th on bars (49.285) and 16th on floor (49.390). Individually, Miller is 18th on bars with an NQS of 9.925.
