COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second time in as many games, Ohio State beats a Top 15 team as the Buckeyes took down No. 7 Maryland 88-86 on Monday night in Value City Arena.

The win improves the Buckeyes to 9-1 on the season and 5-1 in the Big Ten. This is the first time since late February in 2006 that Ohio State has won back-to-back games against Top 15 teams.

Monday was another great team effort. All nine Buckeyes that played scored at least two points and contributed in some way.

Sophomore Madison Greene led the team with a season-high tying 24 points to go along with a career-high seven assists and five steals. Fellow guard Jacy Sheldon added 21 points, marking her sixth 20-point game of the season.

Senior Braxtin Miller scored 18 points and her back-to-back three-pointers with just under five minutes to play gave the Buckeyes a six-point edge and they never trailed the rest of the way.

Dorka Juhasz and Tanaya Beacham both finished with six points, but it was their work on the glass that made the difference. Juhasz tied her career-high for the eighth time with 16 rebounds. Beacham matched her season-high with eight boards. Both totals were more than any Terrapin registered on the night.

Kateri Poole and Rebeka Mikulasikova each posted four points while Rikki Harris played just three minutes and knocked down a big three-pointer. Gabby Hutcherson came off the bench and scored a timely lay-in on the fast break to give the Buckeyes the lead in the third quarter.

Ohio State raced out to a 10-point edge in the first quarter, but a 15-2 Maryland run in the second quarter gave the Terrapins the lead and they took a 39-36 advantage into the break.

The third quarter was played within a five-point margin both ways. Maryland then started the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run and looked as if it had control of the game. After a timeout, the Buckeyes responded by scoring 21 of the next 26 points over a six-and-a-half-minute span to take an 83-72 lead with under two minutes to play.

Maryland’s late, scrappy push made the waning seconds interesting, but the Buckeyes never gave up the lead.

Ohio State will face another ranked team on Thursday when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., to take on No. 16 Indiana. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN.
