Buckeyes Beat No. 6 Virginia in a Dominant Sweep


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 Ohio State men’s tennis team manufactured a convincing 4-0 victory over No. 6 Virginia inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center Sunday afternoon fresh off the victory over No. 1 ranked Tennessee. The Buckeyes get even with the Cavaliers as they are the only team to beat the Buckeyes at the TTTC.

This is Ohio State’s second 4-0 sweep of a Top 10 team in a span of three days and their sixth sweep on the season.

The Buckeyes (7-0) are yet to drop a doubles point on the year and came out with a sweep to clinch the first point of the day. The No. 1 ranked doubles team Matej Vocel and Robert Cash finished first on court one with a strong 6-3 victory. The duo of Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy finished soon after with a 6-3 win to seal the doubles point.

Singles matches ended in a clean sweep as well with James Trotter finishing first on court three with a quick 6-3, 6-2 win. Cannon Kingsley followed on court one with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win over 13th ranked Chris Rodesch. On court two, Matej Vocel sealed the Buckeye victory with his 6-3, 6-3 straight sets win.

The Buckeyes are home on Friday and Sunday for another weekend of ranked showdowns with No. 11 Kentucky and No. 10 Wake Forest. The matches begins at 6 p.m and noon
