COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nicholas Boykin and Kollin Moore, both members of the Ohio State wrestling program, made reservations for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials (Apr. 4-5) in State College, Pa., by way of placing inside the top-5 of their weight class at the U.S. Senior Nationals (Dec. 21-22). Moore advanced to the 97-kilogram freestyle finals while Boykin placed fourth in Greco-Roman at the same weight.
Moore, seeded fourth, took out fifth-seeded and 2019 NCAA runner-up heavyweight Derek White in the quarterfinals by a tally of 6-3. He then went up against the top seed, Kyven Gadson, in the semifinals, posting a second straight 6-3 triumphant score. Gadson has found much international success after a collegiate career which included the 2015 NCAA title at 197 pounds. In the championship bout, Moore fell on criteria in a 10-10 stalemate with Hayden Zillmer.

Boykin, also seeded fourth, matched up against the No. 1 seed in the semifinals as well. He was unable to unseat Lucas Sheridan, however, and ultimately placed fourth to punch his Olympic Trials ticket.
In addition to the two current Buckeyes, three recent Ohio State alumni also clinched participation for the Olympic Trials. Nathan Tomasello (57 kg), Joey McKenna (65 kg) and Myles Martin (86 kg) all reached the finals of their respective freestyle weight classes. McKenna and Martin were both seeded fifth and knocked off the No. 4 and No. 1 seeds en route to the championship bout. McKenna’s semifinal tilt against Yianni Diakomihalis was a rematch of the 2019 NCAA finals at 141 pounds.
