Boulais Earns Second B1G Athlete of the Week Award

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Isabelle Boulais, a senior on the No. 11 Ohio State women’s tennis team, has been named Big Ten Women’s Tennis co-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Boulais picked up two singles victories and a doubles win as the Buckeyes went 2-1 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship over the weekend in Madison, Wis.
Boulais, from Mississauga, Ontario, won in three sets against both No. 13 Florida and No. 14 Auburn as the Buckeyes posted 4-3 wins in each. She clinched the match against the Gators, winning 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-3 against Alicia Dudeney at No. 2 with the team win coming down to her court. Against the Tigers, her three-set win on court one over No. 49 Selin Ovunc put the Buckeyes one team point away as the squad came back for a 4-3 victory. She dropped the first set in a tiebreaker before winning 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, Boulais and Kolie Allen won 6-2 vs. No. 56 Cameron Morra and Carson Tanguilig on court two vs. North Carolina.
Boulais, who was a career-high No. 21 in the most recent ITA singles rankings, is 6-1 this spring.
The Buckeyes have won three Big Ten weekly honors this season, with Boulais a two-time winner and Sydni Ratliff also recognized.
Ohio State (4-3) takes the court at 4 p.m. Friday when it takes on Kentucky in Lexington.
