COLUMBUS, OhioTwo Ohio State Buckeyes were honored on Tuesday with National Field Hockey Coaches Association all-region honors. Fifth-year senior Emma Golden was a first team All-West Region pick while Leanne Bough garnered second team honors.

Division I teams are separated into five regions by the NFHCA: Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Northeast, South and West — each region honors up to 16 student-athletes on a first team and up to 16 student-athletes on a second team.

“I’m so happy for Emma and Leanne,” said head coach Jarred Martin. “This recognition is the byproduct of all their hard work and dedication to the sport and to this program. They were crucial in our successes this season not only with their play but also their leadership.”

A Charlotte, N.C. native, Goldean wrapped up her Buckeye career this season as the third leading scorer on the team with 16 points on five goals and six assists. A second team All-Big Ten selection, Goldean set Ohio State career records for games played (90) and games started (87). She had 17 goals, 17 assists and 51 points and produced 10 or more points in each of her final three seasons. She was also a all-region selection last season.

Bough, a senior from Whitney Point, N.Y., finished second on the team in scoring with 19 points (eight goals, three assists). She was playing her best down the stretch for the Buckeyes – Bough scored in each of the team’s final four regular season games and six of its last seven. She had a two-assist game at Ohio and also had an assist vs. Central Michigan.

Like Goldean, Bough was also an all-region selection last season. She’s played in 68 career games with 16 goals, five assists and 37 points.

“The west region is full of top level student-athletes so anyone making this region is showing what a great field hockey player they are and their impact on the game,” said Martin. “To have Emma and Leanne both find their names on the all-region team is a great honor that they have earned and I am so proud of them.”
