COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Hunter Armstrong and Charlie Clark have been named to the 2022-23 U.S. National Team, announced by USA Swimming on Wednesday, Sept. 7

This is the second time making the U.S. National Team for the Buckeye duo; both were also National Team members in 2021-22.

In order to qualify for the U.S National Team, athletes must have one of the sixth-fastest times in each individual Olympic event, from the combined results of all USA Swimming or FINA sanctioned competitions.

Armstrong earned a spot on the team after swimming a time of 48.25 in the 100 free at the Phillips 66 National Championships and a time of 51.98 in the 100 back at the FINA World Championships. Armstrong’s 100 back time was the second-fastest of the six qualifying swimmers and was his personal-best time. Both times were Ohio State long course program records.

Clark qualified for the team with a time of 7:50.07 in the 800 free and 14:51.78 in the 1500 free at the Phillips 66 National Championships. Both of Clark’s times were second-best out of the six qualifying swimmers in his events and both times were Ohio State long course records.
