
Aquilla Punches Ticket to Eugene with Facility Record in Shot Put

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team completed its first day of women’s competition at NCAA regionals on Thursday.
NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
- Adelaide Aquilla set a facility record with her season-best throw of 19.09m in the shot put competition to advance to nationals. Her throw was more than one meter further than the runner-up.
- Alexus Pyles qualified for the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon with her mark at the Big Ten Championships as the heptathlon is not competed at regionals.
QUARTERFINAL QUALIFIERS
- Three Buckeyes will move onto the quarterfinals in the 100m. Anavia Battle won her heat (11.20), while Yanique Dayle finished second in her heat (11.18, wind-aided) and Nya Bussey was third in her heat (11.41).
- In the 200m, Battle, Dayle and Bussey again advanced to the quarterfinals. Dayle posted a personal-best 22.80 to move up to third in program history and finish second in her heat for the automatic qualifier. Battle won her heat with a season-best 22.38.
- Jaydan Wood ran a personal-best 52.21 to move up to fourth in program history and finish second in her heat. Alyssa Marsh finished third in her heat (52.69) to earn an automatic big to the quarterfinals.
- Chanler Robinson posted a personal-best 58.02 and took sole possession of fifth place in program history in the 400m hurdles, finishing second in her heat and seventh overall.
- Pyles qualified for the 100m hurdles quarterfinals. She finished second in her heat (13.28), ranking 10th overall, to earn an automatic qualifying spot.
- Aziza Ayoub earned a spot in the quarterfinals of the 800m (2:06.01).
UP NEXT
The Buckeye men resume competition on Friday at 1 p.m., while the women’s competition picks back up on Saturday at 1 p.m.
