Alexander, Ferrara and Keethler Named Captains

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Regan Alexander, Nicole Ferrara and Ava Keethler have been selected to serve as captains of the 2022-23 Ohio State women’s lacrosse team, Amy Bokker, Buckeye head coach, announced.

“We are incredibly proud to name Ava Keethler and Regan Alexander captains, along with our returning captain Nicole Ferrara,” Bokker said. “These three strong athletes have proven experience and a strong foundation of leadership. They are committed and demonstrate our core values at a high level. Nicole, Ava and Regan communicate well, put the team first and are each very competitive. We are confident with their leadership our team will continue to grow and push toward the new standards Buckeye women’s lacrosse is striving for.”

Ferrara, a senior who plays attack and is from Morristown, N.J., is in her second year as a captain for the Buckeyes. She was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection last season after leading Ohio State with 21 assists and 52 points, ranking second with 31 goals. She crossed the 100-point mark for her career in the final game of 2022 and has 69 goals, 35 assists and 104 points in 37 games, with 29 starts, in the Scarlet and Gray. Ferrara is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honoree, as well as an IWLCA Honor Roll selection.

Alexander, a junior goaltender from Orlando, Fla., played in all 16 Buckeye games last season, starting 15. She was second among Big Ten goalies with 8.12 saves per game and fourth in the conference with a .444 save percentage. Alexander was second on the squad with 30 groundballs, ranking 10th among B1G players with 1.88 per game. She is a two-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and an Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Keethler, a graduate student from Upper Arlington, Ohio, earned Second Team All-Big Ten accolades last season in her first year as a starter on defense for the Buckeyes. She had 14 ground balls, a draw control and seven caused turnovers while starting all 16 games. Keethler earned her bachelor’s degree in health sciences in Spring 2022 and is a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Academic All-Big Ten selection and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, as well as a two-time selection to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The new Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium is set to open for the 2023 campaign. The complete Buckeye schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
