COLUMBUS, Ohio – On top of becoming the program’s first Patty Kazmaier Top 3 Finalist, Sophie Jaques has been named a First Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association. She is just the third Buckeye to earn the first team distinction.
Jaques leads the Buckeyes in points (59) and assists (38) this season. She has not only scored the most points nationally by a defenseman this season, but she has scored the most single-season points by a Buckeye defenseman in program history and is tied for the most points in a single season by any Ohio State player. Her season point total is the second-most recorded in 20 years by a true defenseman in Division I women’s collegiate hockey.
The native of Toronto, Ontario joins Tessa Bonhomme and Jincy Dunne as the only Buckeyes to be named AHCA First Team All-Americans in program history.
