COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State graduate transfer Ashanti Abshaw suffered a torn ACL in practice over the weekend and following surgery, she will miss the 2018-19 season.

“I’m extremely devastated for Ashanti”, said head coach Kevin McGuff. “She is a great kid and worked really hard to get acclimated to our system and was going to make an impact. She will undergo surgery soon and we will support her throughout this process to make sure she gets back to 100 percent.”

Abshaw transferred to Ohio State this summer after playing at Cleveland State the last four seasons. She was a three-time All-Horizon League honoree and has averaged more than 17 points per game in her career. Abshaw completed her degree in communications management from Cleveland State last spring and is working on her master’s degree in workforce development here at Ohio State.
