OHIO STATE SWIMMING RESIDENT & COMMUTER CAMP
The Ohio State Swimming Resident and Commuter Camp offers the perfect blend of high-level competitive swimming instruction and the classic, heartwarming magic of a traditional summer camp—right on the iconic campus of one of the world's most recognized universities.
Picture this: Your child, already a dedicated swimmer experiencing success on their high school, club, YMCA or summer league team and mastering all four strokes, steps onto the beautiful Ohio State campus for four unforgettable days. They arrive with excitement (and maybe a little nervousness), check into supervised dorms with a low 1-10 counselor-to-camper ratio for constant care and guidance, and immediately feel part of a supportive, family-like community. Mornings start with walks across campus to the state-of-the-art McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion—one of the best facilities in the country—where they train under the guidance of Ohio State's top professional coaching staff, led by a director with decades of experience producing champions, assisted by current and former Buckeye athletes who serve as mentors and role models.
Each day is thoughtfully structured around growth in the pool: technique-focused sessions diving deep into one competitive stroke per day, plus dedicated work on underwater kicking, starts, and turns. Every session includes real-time video feedback from ten advanced Sideline Scout cameras (above and underwater), helping your swimmer see and fix details that lead to big time drops. But it's more than just training—it's building confidence, resilience, and a deeper love for the sport.
Beyond the water, your child enjoys the full camp experience that tugs at every parent's heart:
- Daily motivational talks on goal-setting, nutrition, strength essentials, activation, and recovery from expert strength/conditioning and athletic training staff.
- A guided campus tour that lets them explore the vibrant Ohio State world—perhaps imagining their own future there.
- Fun evening activities after dinner, creating laughter, new friendships, and those "summer camp stories" they'll share for years.
- Shared meals in the campus dining hall (full for residents: breakfast, lunch, dinner; commuters get lunch), fostering bonds over stories of races, dreams, and everything in between.
- Safe, structured days with clear rules, rest periods, and lights out at 10:00 PM—giving you peace of mind while they make lifelong memories and connections with like-minded swimmers from across the country.
This isn't just a clinic—it's a safe, joyful adventure where technique sharpens, spirits soar, and kids return home more confident, inspired, and excited about swimming (and life). Past campers leave transformed, carrying the Buckeye pride, new friends, and that special glow of a summer well spent.
