Justin Fields, QB
On if he’d vote for Chase Young for the Heisman:
It’s clear to everyone that Chase is the most dominant football player in college football. I think people on the defense help his success, and I think if you ask him that question he would say that, too. I think the other d-linemen open up for him to get sacks, too, so I think it’s more of team thing than an individual thing. I think there’s nobody on this team that’s focused on individual Heisman and all these awards. We’re focused on winning championships.
On what makes the offense conducive to his talents:
I think what makes this offense how it is are the guys we have and the coaches that are behind the schemes. I think we have a lot of weapons on the outside, and we have a great o-line, great running backs, and of course great offensive-minded coaches, Coach Yurcich, Coach Day, Coach Wilson, just all those guys putting in the work. I think we work well as a group, and it’s one big family here. I think it’s not only the smarts and the players, but I think the chemistry and the family-oriented place, I think that’s kind of what makes the offense what it is.

Robert Landers, DL
On if this defense is the best in the country:
I feel like we have the potential to be the best defense in the country. Right now we’re just taking it day by day. After going back and watching the film, there’s still a lot of things that we need to work on, which is a good thing and a bad thing just because it shows there’s still a lot of room for growth and improvement. I feel like we showed glimpses of the potential that we really have, but I don’t feel like we’re at our peak yet. I feel like we still have a lot more that we can improve on and a lot more we can elevate.
I feel like our defense as a whole, we all play so well together, to where the back end trusts us up front and we trust the back end. So it allows us to play faster, and it allows us to pin our ears back at times and play ball.

Jeff Okudah, CB
On confidence level of the defense:
I think the confidence level is really, really high. Like I said earlier on in the year, we’re looking for redemption. So to get a chance to go against these teams and show what we’re able to do week in and week out, it’s really been big. So now we’re just focusing on going forward and playing a really good game against Maryland.
On maintaining focus heading into the last stretch of the season:
I think it’s really important to maintain that focus just because as we’ve seen in the past, one week can ruin your whole season. So we’re trying to go against Maryland with a fresh mindset and try to end the week 1 and 0.
