
Ohio State Takes Over First LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On the strength of five Top 10 finishes at winter NCAA championships, the Ohio State Department of Athletics has taken over first place through the winter LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup standings for athletic department program excellence. Ohio State is nearly 100 points in front of second-place Texas in this second of three standings releases. The final standings and the winner of the LEARFIELD Director’s Cup will be announced in June.

- Ohio State, B1G – 858.00
- Texas, Big 12 – 758.75
- Stanford, Pac-12 – 754.50
- North Carolina, ACC – 686.50
- Alabama, SEC – 634.25
Ohio State’s strong performance in the winter championships was led by a second-place NCAA finish, and 90 points, from the women’s hockey team, and an 80-point, fourth-place finish from the wrestling team. Additional Top 10 finishes by Ohio State teams came from women’s basketball (5th and 73 points), the co-ed fencing team (5th and 75 points), and women’s swimming and diving (6th and 73.5 points).
Also scoring points at the NCAA winter championships: men’s swimming and diving (11th/66 points), women’s indoor track and field (18th/55.5 points) and men’s indoor track and field (41st/32 points).

Ohio State finished in fourth-place overall in 2021-22 and had 11 teams with Top 10 Directors’ Cup national rankings: women’s hockey (No. 1), men’s tennis (No. 3), football (No. 5), fencing (No. 5), men’s gymnastics (No. 5), rowing (No. 8), women’s volleyball (No. 9), women’s basketball (No. 9), women’s swimming and diving (No. 9), men’s swimming and diving (No. 9) and men’s lacrosse (No. 9).
