Dunne, Peschel Garner Preseason WCHA Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women's hockey players Joy Dunne and Emma Peschel were named to the Preseason All-WCHA team, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday.
Dunne and Peschel join Minnesota forward Abbey Murphy, Wisconsin forward Kirsten Simms, Wisconsin defender Caroline Harvey and Minnesota Duluth goaltender Ève Gascon on the five-player team.
Dunne, who led the Buckeyes in goals, assists and points last year, is an assistant captain in her junior season. She ended the 2024-25 with a 10-game goal streak and scored five goals in the team's three NCAA Tournament games. Dunne, a two-time World Championship medalist with Team USA, has 104 points for her career with 53 goals and 51 assists. The O'Fallon, Mo. native was a Patty Kazmaier Top 10 Finalist her sophomore season.
Peschel, a captain for the squad this season, is a returning All-American defender. She led a Buckeye defense that held opponents to under 20 shots and just 2.08 goals per game in 2024-25. The 2025 First Team All-WCHA honoree finished with the second-best plus minus on the team last season, going +30 in 40 games played. She added 34 points on eight goals and 26 assists.
The Buckeyes were voted by the league's head coaches to finish second in a tie with Minnesota with 40 points. Wisconsin was first with 49 points total. The Buckeyes and Gophers were followed by Minnesota Duluth (31 votes), St. Cloud State (24 points), St. Thomas (17 points), Minnesota State (16 points) and Bemidji State (7 points).
