Mendez Leads Buckeye Contingent to US Open

Ohio State represented by 10 wrestlers at event in Las Vegas
Event Schedule
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jesse Mendez, the NCAA Champion each of the last two years at 141 pounds, will lead a contingent of Buckeyes this week competing at the 2025 Senior Level US Open in Las Vegas.
The event serves as the world team trials in the Greco-Roman division and the winners of the freestyle divisions will automatically advance to Final X, an annual series of wrestling events that determine the US Senior World/Olympic Team Members at each weight class.
Mendez will be competing at 65kg and is seeded No. 2.
Ohio State NCAA Tournament qualifiers from 2025 Brendan McCrone (57 kg.), Nic Bouzakis (61kg.), Carson Kharchla (79kg/5 seed) and Nick Feldman (125kg/4 seed) also will be competing. Redshirt Ben Davino is entered at 61kg.
Senior freestyle events will be held Friday and Saturday.
TJ Schierl will compete at 77kg in the Greco Roman competition. The Greco Roman competition begins at noon Thursday.
In the Sunday U20 Freestyle competition, Ohio State's Vinny Kilkeary, Daxton Chase and Cayaen Smith will participate.
Kilkeary will wrestle in the 57kg bracket. Chase is in the 70 kg and Smith in 86kg.
