Rogotzke, Shumate Win Open Titles Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – As No. 8 Ohio State continues to prepare for the 2025 Big Ten Championships March 8-9 at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the Northwestern campus, a pair of Buckeyes earned individual championships Sunday.
Ryder Rogotzke (184) and Seth Shumate (197) won titles in their respective brackets at the 2025 Patriot Last Chance Open at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Rogotzke pinned his first two opponents before a win by decision, 3-1, in the title match against Ross McFarland of Hofstra.
Shumate earned bonus points in all three of his bouts on his way to the title. He pinned Jack Darrah of Maryland in the title match in 35 seconds.
It was the second title in as many weeks for Shumate, who won the 2025 Mat Town College Open Feb. 17 at Lock Haven University. He went 4-0 in that event at 197.
Brandon Cannon (157) also earned a championship at the Mat Town Open last week.
