Mendez Opens 2025-26 at NWCA All-Star Classic

Flowrestling.org to stream event Nov. 1 from Rutgers
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Senior Jesse Mendez, who enters the 2025-26 season ranked No. 1 nationally at 141 pounds, will take on No. 6 Anthony Echemendia Nov. 1 at the 2025 NWCA All-Star Classic.

The bout will take place at Jersey Mike's Arena on the Rutgers University campus. Flowrestling.org will provide the live stream of the event. Â

Mendez, a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA Champion in his weight class, last faced Echemendia (Iowa State) in the semifinals of the 2024 NCAA Championships. Mendez, then the No. 1 seed, prevailed 6-4 on his way to the NCAA title bout where he defeated No. 2 Beau Bartlett of Penn State, 4-1.

Ohio State fans will get their first opportunity to see Mendez and the preseason No. 5 Buckeyes at home Nov. 20 against Kent State at the Covelli Center in Columbus. For ticket information go to www.OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
