Four Buckeyes Named to AVCA All-America Teams

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association named four Buckeyes to its 2024 All-America Teams Monday.

Jacob Pasteur, a senior outside hitter, made the 2024 AVCA All-America Second Team after earning a spot on the 2023 First Team and the 2022 Honorable Mention All-America squad.

Senior setter Micheal Wright, junior middle blocker Cole Young and sophomore opposite hitter Shane Wetzel all were named to the 2024 AVCA Honorable Mention All-America team.

Young and Wetzel were 2023 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans as well.

Pasteur led the Buckeyes with 379 kills this year with Wetzel adding 332. Young led Ohio State with 117 blocks to go with 118 kills on the year.

Wright set the Ohio State to a 22-8 overall record with 805 assists in 2024. He was named the 2024 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading the Buckeyes to the 2024 Title. He was named the 2023 MIVA Tournament MOP as well after the Buckeyes won the league tournament last year.

Pasteur and Wetzel made both the 2023 and 2024 MIVA All-Tournament teams.

The Buckeyes are currently preparing for the 2024 NCAA Tournament opener vs. Grand Canyon in Long Beach, California. The teams will square off Tuesday at Walter Pyramid on the Long Beach State University campus. First serve is set for 10:30 p.m. and will be live-streamed on NCAA.com.
