Buckeyes Win 200 Medley Relay on Night One of Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team had an electric start to the Big Ten Championships on Wednesday, winning the 200 medley relay four the fourth straight year.
The Buckeye relay team of Nyah Funderburke, Hannah Bach, Katherine Zenick and Teresa Ivan swam the relay in 1:33.47, which is a pool record, a Big Ten Championships record and the third-fastest time in the nation this season. It is also an automatic NCAA qualifying time and the second-fastest time in program history. Funderburke swam the fastest lead-off leg of the race, swimming the backstroke in 23.61.
The Buckeyes held the previous meet record of 1:33.65, which was set by Emily Crane, Bach, Zenick and Ivan during the 2022 Big Ten Championships.
In the 800 free relay, Ohio State placed fourth. The team of Amy Fulmer, Zenick, Paige Hall and Krista Marlin finished in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7:00.37. It is the third-fastest time in program history and a top-10 time in the nation.
The Buckeyes are in second place after the first day of competition with 116 points. They trail first-place Indiana by just two points.
The Big Ten Championships continue Feb. 22-24, with prelims at 10:00 a.m. each morning and finals at 5:00 p.m. each evening. Tomorrow's events are the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 400 medley relay and 1-meter dive.
