Head Coach Ryan Tanoue Elected To Nevada Athletic HOF – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State rifle head coach Ryan Tanoue will be inducted into the Nevada Athletic Hall of Fame later this fall as was announced by the university this week. Tanoue was a seven-time All-American and an NCAA Individual Champion for the Wolf Pack from 2002-05.
Tanoue earned All-America honors in air rifle all four of his years at Nevada and claimed smallbore All-America honors three times. He won the air rifle NCAA Individual Championship in 2002. As a sophomore in 2003, he became a member of the U.S. National team and was a medalist at six consecutive U.S. National Championships and was a two-time U.S. Nationals champion. In 2005, Tanoue won the Munich World Cup and Beijing Olympic Quota Place.
After graduating in 2005, Tanoue served as a volunteer assistant for the Wolf Pack for six years while earning his master’s degree in psychology. In 2011, he also began pursuing his Ph.D. in cognitive and brain science at Nevada and worked as a graduate teaching assistant and a research assistant in the memory and brain lab and cognitive neuroscience lab.
Tanoue took over the Buckeye program prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. He led the Buckeyes to their third-straight WIRC Championship in 2013 and fourth and third place finishes in the Patriot Rifle Conference in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Tanoue has also helped at least one shooter earn a berth in the NCAA Individual Championship in all three years he’s been at the helm.
The Nevada Hall of Fame Dinner will be on Friday, Sept. 11 in Reno. Tanoue and the other members will then be honored at halftime of the Nevada-Arizona football game the following day.
