Cochran Joins Football Conditioning Staff – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mike Cochran has been named assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Ohio State.%^$
%^$Cochran comes to Ohio State from Youngstown State, where, for the past six years, he has been director of the Penguins’ strength and conditioning program. He oversaw all 18 varsity sports at Youngstown State, including the football program.%^$
%^$”Mike is an outstanding young man, who is dedicated to his profession and to helping those athletes he works with grow in every sense of the word,” said Jim Tressel, the current Ohio State and former Youngstown State football coach. “He builds tremendous relationships with the athletes because they know he is genuinely committed to helping them get better. We are lucky to have him here at Ohio State.”%^$
%^$Cochran is from Girard, Ohio. He attended Youngstown State and played football for the Penguins, serving as team captain as a senior in 1989. He played both fullback and linebacker and finished his career with 214 total tackles.%^$
%^$Cochran received his undergraduate degree in exercise science from Youngstown State in 1992. He then spent three seasons as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, working with defense from 1993 to 1995.%^$
%^$In 1995, Cochran was named assistant strength and conditioning coach at YSU. He was named head strength coach in 1996.%^$
%^$”I am thrilled to be at Ohio State and to have the opportunity to again work with Coach Tressel and with (head strength and conditioning coach) Allan Johnson,” said Cochran. “I loved it at YSU, but this is a very special opportunity.”%^$
%^$Cochran was named to the Youngstown State Hall of Fame in 2000.
