Buckeyes in the NFL – Week 7

Primetime Zeke
A smashmouth Sunday night showing from the Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott snapped a three-game losing streak. In the process, Zeke gained 100-plus yards for the second-straight week, scored his sixth touchdown of the year, and caught a game-high six passes for 36 yards. The fourth-year back now ranks fifth in the NFL in rushing with 602 on the year, and has now passed 6,000 scrimmage yards for his career. (Image courtesy: dallascowboys.com)

Brothers Bosa, Part One
San Francisco’s star rookie DE is mastering the art of both the sack and the celebration, and his team’s 9-0 win over Washington was a perfect example. Bosa registered seven total tackles (five solo, two assisted) to go along with four tackles for loss. His single sack on Sunday sealed the 49ers’ sixth win of the season, and if he maintains his current pace, the NFL could be looking at its next Defensive Rookie of the Year. Nick Bosa’s @PFF stat line through six games is ridiculous:
-31 total pressures
-19 QB hurries
-7 QB hits
-5 sacks
-11 total tackles
-9 stops
-1 forced fumble
-82.9 overall grade

Brothers Bosa, Part Two
The 2016 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year put up a Sunday stat line very similar to his younger brother: six tackles (four solo, two assisted), a tackle for loss, and two sacks. The Chargers DE leads his team in sacks, tackles for loss, and quarterback hits, and ranks second in total tackles. It’s clear Big Bear is continuing to lead by example, but after LA’s fifth loss this season, he’s become a vocal leader as well. (Image courtesy: chargers.com)

Thomas Burns the Bears
This offseason, Saints WR Michael Thomas got paid. Through seven weeks, he’s getting praised. Arguably the league’s best wideout turned in a nine catch day in Chicago that resulted in 131 yards and vaulted him to the NFL lead in receiving yards. Thomas is a huge reason New Orleans won 36-25 Sunday and has started the season 6-1. (Image courtesy: neworleanssaints.com)
That’s 9 catches for @Cantguardmike Which keeps him right on schedule to break Marvin Harrison’s record for 143 in a season.
My opinion, there’s not a better WR in football than Thomas. pic.twitter.com/KorfBqEYvG

Most catches this season without a drop:
1. Michael Thomas: 53
2. Chris Godwin: 43
T-3. Austin Hooper: 42
T-3. Austin Ekeler: 42
5. Tyler Boyd: 40
6. Darren Waller: 37— Field Yates (@FieldYates) October 16, 2019
Simon’s Strip Sack
Patriots DE John Simon is becoming a staple on the NFL’s most dominant defense. Monday night’s 33-0 drubbing of the division rival Jets marked the second-straight game Simon forced a turnover, this time a strip sack that resulted in a New England score. He also added three tackles (one solo, two assisted), just for good measure. (Image courtesy: patriots.com)
John Simon has always been one of my favorites. Just a hard working tough mother from a basketball school in Youngstown.

John Simon has become one of my favorite defenders in the NFL and this play is a phenomenal example of why.
1. Gets the strip sack
2. Asserts dominance over Darnold
3. Realizes the play is still live and DECLEATS Jamison Crowder pic.twitter.com/4uYM9U2UiG— Taylor Kyles (@tkyles39) October 22, 2019
New Home in Houston
Though the NFL’s trade deadline is next week, Gareon Conley is the subject of some early activity. The 2017 first-round pick and former Raiders CB will join three fellow Buckeyes as a member of the Houston Texans. Oakland and Houston will square off this Sunday. (Image courtesy: raiders.com)
The #Texans have traded for CB Gareon Conley from the Oakland Raiders.

Raiders trade Gareon Conley to Houston, per @VicTafur.
Conley underwhelmed in Oakland but was given little opportunity to play man coverage like he did at OSU.
Houston runs man coverage at the fourth-highest rate in the NFL; he’ll perform better in HOU, imo.

Buckeyes Forever
Teammates turned foes, Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins and Nick Bosa met before their matchup Sunday to show it’s still all love between the former Ohio State standouts.
