Buckeyes in the NFL – Week 5

Joey Bosa Ballin’
“Big Bear” got the better of the Broncos O-Line, and the Chargers DE turned in one of his better performances this season. In a 20-13 loss, the elder Bosa disrupted Denver’s backfield to the tune of one sack, two tackles for loss, and four solo tackles. He nearly doubled up his TFL total for the season, now at five, and Sunday’s sack gives him three on the year. (Image courtesy: chargers.com)

Nick Bosa Ballin’ Harder
Not to be outdone, younger brother Nick Bosa and his 49ers had the Monday Night slot all to themselves, and the DE stole the show. In a 31-3 W over Cleveland, “Smaller Bear” forced a fumble, recovered another, recorded four solo tackles and two tackles for loss, and sacked Baker Mayfield twice. Hope Buckeye Nation hasn’t forgotten the infamous flag plant stunt Mayfield pulled in The Shoe back in 2017. Check the celebration – needless to say Bosa hasn’t either. (Image courtesy: 49ers.com)

Still Can’t Guard Mike
A smooth 11-catch game for Saints WR Michael Thomas resulted in 182 yards and two touchdowns during a 31-24 divisional win. The $100 million man is now up to 12 games in his career with 10-plus catches and 100-plus receiving yards. If all that didn’t fire him up, New Orleans’ third straight win and a TD from fellow former Buckeye Ted Ginn, Jr. surely did. (Image courtesy: neworleanssaints.com)

Michael Thomas stepped up in a major way for the #Saints today, with 11 catches for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns.
His thoughts? “It was time … I have to be that guy to make people miss. I have to catch the ball. I have to score the points. That’s what they have me here for.” pic.twitter.com/uFFH4HoKxN

Conley Coming up Clutch
CB Gareon Conley’s Raiders relinquished a 17-point lead against the Bears on Sunday, but took the lead again late. With under two minutes to play and Chicago driving, Conley picked off Chase Daniel to seal his squad’s second-straight W. The third-year pro also added another pass defended and two solo tackles to the stat sheet for the game. (Image courtesy: neworleanssaints.com)

Keep Eatin’, Zeke
If somehow you forgot, just know Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is still a major focal point of Dallas’ offense. In Sunday’s 34-24 loss to the Packers, Zeke churned out 62 yards on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and scoring his fourth touchdown through five games. He also contributed in the passing game, hauling in two catches for 29 yards and giving him four consecutive games with multiple receptions. (Image courtesy: dallascowboys.com)

Nugent New in New England
In his 14th NFL season, former Buckeye K Mike Nugent fits in perfectly with a team well-known for finding diamonds in the rough. In the Sunday’s Patriots vs. Redskins matchup, Nugent’s team debut, he overcame a shaky start to nail two field goals and three straight extra points. New England won 33-7 to remain unbeaten, and it looks like Nugent could be a part of the team’s plan going forward. (Image courtesy: patriots.com)
