This week’s show will set up the Big Ten matchup of Indiana and Ohio State. Indiana travels to the Shoe to take on the Bucks. The Hoosiers are 3 -1 and are looking to even the score after the Buckeyes beat them 33 – 14 last year.
Coach John Cooper will join us to bring his insight to the Indiana offense and defense.
Dionne Miller will be reporting from locations all over Ohio Stadium to put you in the middle of game day. For a behind the scenes look at the Buckeyes we join tight end coach John Peterson at practice. Watch Buckeyes in action with Community Outreach. We will sit down and talk to offensive lineman and native central Ohioan Justin Boren. And finally, Coach Tressel will be on hand to give us his final thoughts before game time.
Noon Indiana at No. 2 Ohio State
- Television: ESPN will televise the game with Dave Pasch (play-by-play), Bob Griese and Chris Spielman (analysts) in the booth. The game will also be televised on ESPN3D with Dave Lamont, Tim Brown and Ray Bentley.
- Radio: WBNS (97.1 FM The Fan) is the flagship station for the 73-station Ohio State radio network. The Jim Tressel pregame show airs 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Paul Keels will call the play-by-play with former Buckeye Jim Lachey in the booth and Marty Bannister on the sidelines. The game can also be heard on Sirius satellite radio 127 and XM 102.

Nicklaus Named ‘Big Ten Icon’ No. 18
CHICAGO – Jack Nicklaus has been named Big Ten Icon No. 18. The Big Ten Icons countdown, presented by Discover, continues at 9 PM ET on Tuesday, Sept. 28, with a profile of the legendary Ohio State golfer. The episode includes new, exclusive interviews with Nicklaus, Bob Knight, Arnold Palmer and many others.
New episodes of the 20-episode series, hosted by legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson, debut at 9 PM ET every Tuesday night through the end of football season and into the spring.
As a sophomore at Ohio State, Nicklaus entered the 1960 U.S. Open and finished just two shots behind Arnold Palmer and set a new U.S. Open amateur record with a tournament score of 282.
In 1961, he won the Big Ten Championship by 16 strokes and also captured the NCAA championships for the Buckeyes. The Columbus native and lifelong Buckeye fan was the first player to win the NCAA individual championship and the U.S. Amateur in the same year.
Growing up in Columbus, Nicklaus loved football and considered playing football for the Buckeyes. In the Icons episode, Nicklaus tells the story of how his athletic career took another path thanks to some advice that Woody Hayes gave to his father. “(Hayes said), ‘He’s got a real future in the game of golf. If he was my son, and if I was going to offer some advice: I’d keep him as far away from my game as I could.'”
In the episode, Nicklaus talks about the recruiting process and a missed opportunity to play for the Buckeyes’ basketball team. “I was recruited by a lot of schools to play golf, but I was recruited by Ohio State to play basketball. I was recruited with (John) Havlicek and (Jerry) Lucas and that group. I elected not to play basketball. I think I would have loved to have been on that team because they won the national championship.”

The No. 1 Big Ten Icon will be revealed around the 2011 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament. Big Ten Icons is the network’s most ambitious multi-platform initiative to date. The program is counting down the top 50 student-athletes in Big Ten history, based solely on their collegiate playing careers. Icons 50 through 21, listed below, were revealed at BigTenIcons.com.
Fans can visit www.BigTenIcons.com to see a complete roster of Big Ten Icons, which also features essays, video and other key facts about each Icon’s career. Viewers can also participate in the “Talk of the Locker Room” contest with a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize. Weekly winners will take home a 55-inch Philips HD television.
Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman said the series will engage and spark conversation among sports fans everywhere. “What will make Big Ten Icons stand out is the depth of the storytelling,” he said. “The rankings themselves are sure to generate quite a bit of discussion.”
Big Ten Network Announces Nine-Game Men’s Ice Hockey Schedule
Highlighted by “The Big Chill at the Big House” between Michigan and Michigan State, the Big Ten Network will televise nine men’s ice hockey games this winter, featuring all five hockey-playing Big Ten universities. Every telecast will be live and in high definition, and the network also will produce a post-game show following most of its games. The network makes its selections in conjunction with the regional sports networks which have existing rights arrangements with both the CCHA and the WCHA.
Additional games throughout the season that would not otherwise receive live coverage will be available via web stream anywhere in the world at BigTenNetwork.com. The network’s full streaming schedule for men’s ice hockey will be available at BigTenNetwork.com prior to the start the season.
Although the Big Ten Conference does not sponsor ice hockey, member schools have combined to win four of the last nine NCAA Championships and 22 titles throughout history. Three different Big Ten schools have won national championships in the last eight years.

Fall into Olympic Sports Coverage on the Big Ten Network
The Big Ten Network will provide extensive coverage of Big Ten Olympic sports in 2010 with more than 50 events to be televised to a national audience.
In women’s volleyball, the network will broadcast 22 matches and provide live streaming coverage of 46 additional conference matchups on BigTenNetwork.com. Sixteen of those streamed events will be broadcast on the linear network during the season as part of the Big Ten Network’s Student U initiative.
The network will also showcase Big Ten soccer, with television coverage of 14 men’s games and 10 women’s games. Also, the network will make up to 29 men’s and women’s soccer games available for live streaming this season.
Field hockey will also be well-represented on the network’s fall programming schedule, with six games to air live, and three on delay.
The Big Ten Network will once again provide coverage of all three Big Ten fall championships, including live broadcasts during the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament and Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament and delayed coverage of the Big Ten Cross Country Championships.
