COLUMBUS, Ohio – After picking up its second Big Ten road win in as many tries Saturday night, a total of 27 players – 15 on offense, 11 on defense and one special teams – were named champions by Ohio State’s coaching staff. The players of the game came from the Buckeyes’ secondary (SAF Jordan Fuller and CB Jeff Okudah), the offensive line (RT Joshua Alabi) and kicker (Blake Haubeil).
DT Chase Young, DT Davon Hamilton and WR Chris Olave were each champions for the fifth consecutive week. Alabi, making his first start of the season in place of Branden Bowen, made his opportunity count as he graded out as a champion for the first time this season. He helped pave the way for an offense that generated 368 rushing yards, averaged 8.9 yards per carry and had 11 plays of 20 yards or more from scrimmage. Behind the blocking of Alabi and the rest of the offensive line, J.K. Dobbins finished with 177 yards on 24 carries while Master Teague had 77 yards on 12 carries and a pair of touchdowns.
Okudah and Fuller were just two of the stars in a secondary that held Nebraska to 47 yards passing and just eight completions. Okudah made two interceptions, becoming the first player with multiple INTs in the same game since Marshon Lattimore vs. Tulsa in 2016. His second interception of the night ended a Nebraska drive in the red zone and came with him lying flat on his back. Fuller also had an interception to go along with six tackles.
On special teams, Haubeil was a perfect six-for-six on extra points, made two field goals (36 and 23 yards) and had six of his nine kickoffs unreturnable.
