
Crawford & Siler Lead Divers at NCAA Zone C Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has now qualified four divers to the NCAA championships in two events after the first two days of competition at the NCAA Zone C diving championships, being held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky., and on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
Ohio State senior Jacob Siler today won the men’s platform event with a score of 734.55 with junior Jacob Fielding fifth (710.05) and sophomore Lyle Yost 10th (677.45). All three have qualified for the NCAA championships, set for March 24-27 in Greensboro, N.C., on the platform and also the 3-meter after all three placed in the top seven in the event yesterday. Senior Joey Canova was 17th on platform today after finishing 11th on the 3-meter yesterday. He’ll need a top seven finish tomorrow on the 1-meter springboard to qualify for the NCAA championships.
Mackenzie Crawford was runner-up today on the women’s 3-meter event with 626.85 points. She, too, is now qualified for the NCAA championships – March 17-20 in Greensboro – on two boards after placing 10th on the 1-meter on Sunday.
Jackie Brenn was ninth today on 3-meter with 563.00 points and Lexie Barker was 12th with 535.50 points.
There is one more day of diving on Tuesday. The men will compete on 3-meter and the women will compete off the platform.
Ohio State’s NCAA Qualified Divers:
- Sophomore Mackenzie Crawford: 1-meter and 3-meter;
- Junior Jacob Fielding: 3-meter and platform;
- Senior Jacob Siler: 3-meter and platform; and
- Sophomore Lyle Yost: 3-meter and platform.
The following are the automatic qualifying spots from Zone C to the NCAA championships:
Zone C: Automatic Qualifying Spots
1-Meter – Women: 7; Men: 7
3-Meter – Women: 6; Men: 7
Platform – Women: 10; Men: 10
If a diver auto qualifies for the NCAA Championships in one or more events at the Zone C Championships, he or she will be allowed to optionally enter any other event(s) at the national meet, provided that the diver finished in the top 12 in the additional event at the same zone meet.
