
No. 10 Buckeyes Host Two B1G Matches This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis team opens its Big Ten season with two home matches this weekend. The Buckeyes (3-2) host Purdue (0-0) at 10 a.m. Friday and Indiana (0-0) at noon Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Live streaming and live scoring will be available at the links above. There is no general public admission for the matches.
Buckeye This and That
- Ohio State is 3-2 on the year, with home wins over Syracuse and then-No. 10 Virginia on ITA Kickoff Weekend and a victory against No. 6 Georgia Tech at the ITA Indoor Team National Championship last weekend, along with losses to No. 1 North Carolina and No. 10 Northwestern at ITA Indoors.
- Irina Cantos Siemers leads the team with six overall wins (6-1), while Luna Dormet (5-0) and Lucia Marzal (5-2) both have five victories. In dual play, Dormet is 3-0, Marzal and Cantos Siemers are 3-1 and Lisa Hofbauer is 3-2.
- In dual matches, the doubles tandem of Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais is 3-1, with Marzal and Cantos Siemers 3-2, to lead the way.
- The Buckeyes won the doubles point in their first two matches but dropped doubles in the matches at ITA Indoors. Each doubles point has been decided 2-1 so far this season.
- Ohio State moved from No. 9 to No. 10 in the ITA Rankings this week. The squad started the year at No. 13.
- Cantos Siemers was No. 78 in singles in the first rankings of the season. She has wins over two Top 15 players this season, prevailing in both in three sets.
- Ohio State was 2-0 in Big Ten play in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The squad was 8-3 in league matches in 2019, tying for third in the final standings.

Ohio State vs Purdue
- Ohio State is 32-23 all-time vs. Purdue, with wins in the last nine matches.
- The Buckeyes opened the 2020 Big Ten schedule against the Boilermakers as well, with a 5-2 win Feb. 27, 2020 in West Lafayette, Ind.
- The teams last met in Columbus April 12, 2019, with a 4-2 Buckeye victory in Columbus.
- Purdue is opening its dual match season Friday.
Buckeyes vs. Hoosiers
- The Buckeyes are 15-32 all-time vs. Indiana, with wins in the last six matches.
- The teams did not meet in the shortened 2020 season. Ohio State prevailed in the last match, 6-1, April 14, 2019 in Columbus.
- Indiana has not yet played a dual match. The Hoosiers will play at Penn State Friday before traveling to Columbus.

- Ohio State will hit the road for its next two matches, playing at Maryland at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 and at Rutgers at noon Feb. 21.
- The team will then return to Columbus for matches against Michigan State at 10 a.m. Feb. 26 and vs. Michigan at noon Feb. 28.
