Members of the Class of 2025 started their pro careers this spring
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Following the 2024-25 men's hockey season, six members of the Ohio State Class of 2025, along with junior Damien Carfagna, signed professional contracts.
Carfagna, a free agent, signed a two-year entry-level deal with the NHL Edmonton Oilers. He also signed a ATO with the AHL Bakersfield Condors, but was not ready for game action and did not appear in a game.
Joe Dunlap (Laval), Aiden Hansen-Bukata (Syracuse), Patrick Guzzo (Manitoba) and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (Iowa) all signed with AHL teams and made their professional debuts. Brent Johnson signed with ECHL Wheeling and tallied in his professional debut. Logan Terness signed an ATO with the Texas Stars for their playoff run but has not yet seen game action.
Carfagna was the seventh Buckeye in the last three years to sign an entry-level contract with an NHL team, with four of the seven free agents. During head coach Steve Rohlik's tenure, which began in 2013-14, 13 Buckeyes have advanced to the NHL.Â
