On analytics of the game:
“It’s pretty on par with where we’ve been and we’ve gotten some pretty good feedback on things last year that I feel like we were right where we needed to be. With the two minute warning that certainly has changed things a bit so I thought it’d be a good idea to have weekly reports of what’s going on in the NFL and what’s going on in college. We have our charts, our plan and our weekly meetings to discuss when to use timeouts and when to go for two all those types of things."
On how the week of practice impacts overall game:
“Yesterday was a dynamite practice and today it was definitely pretty hot out there. Today was not all perfect, but we’re putting another brick in the foundation and we can get with our guys to check out film as well. We’re continuing to push through and to keep challenging one another while being truthful. Sometimes love does not always feel like love when you are challenging each other. We’ve used that approach being that we love each other so much now so nobody will be hurting in the future.”
On Donovan Jackson playing:
“I think there is a little confidence being built there coming off the last game. We have to keep building that confidence and that finish down the field. He’s a leader, communicates well and the best guard in the country. I do think Austin played well when he was in there, but this is a guy who has played a lot of football.”

On communication:
"I think communication is key. I think it progresses. I feel like we are going to have those pieces together to communicate even more than we did in week two. Then during the bye week just understanding what communication is all about on the line, getting the calls, saying everything, talking to Tegra or Austin or Donnie or Seth."
On evaluating the last few weeks:
"I can get better. I can play harder. Just always not being complacent with myself. I can play super hard and play super fast and talk and communicate on the offense line to make us better as a unit."
On practice:
"I used to not get tired at practice last year, but now I think we're pushing and the coaches are pushing us harder than ever to where I'm out of breath every single play because we're going that hard. It's insane the experience and the playing hard from last year to this year."

On he feels now compared to the last game:
“My understanding of the game is a lot better than what it was last year. I am more confident. I know what is going on. I can see what is going on with the defense and I know what is coming.”
On what he expects this role to be this game:
"Where they need me if it is left, right, wherever I get to go in, I go in and block the guy in front of me.
The moment it clicked on the field for him:
“First game obviously you are going to have nerves being a first time starter. But then after a couple of plays I was good I was just rolling.”

On his excitement to play against Marshall:
“I’m extremely ready to play for this next game especially against Marshall who throws the ball a lot. I’m excited and ready for them to throw the ball and to put myself in a position to make some plays potentially even turning the ball over. They’re a good team and they do things well schematically."
On being consistent:
“Consistent means being consistent in all areas of the game especially in practice. You can’t have tons of ups and downs at Ohio State so we have to instill that into the young guys because you never know when the opportunity is going to come and they will have to live up to those big moments.”

On how he is feeling after the first couple games:
“I feel good challenging myself every day to improve and challenging the d-line to help me improve. Coaches are challenging me and pushing me every single day to get better.”
On things to improve upon:
I try to put my best on the field for the guy in front of me and for the guy watching me next week. I have been trying to improve. There is always something to improve whether it is hands, technique, feet and things like that. We put a lot on the older guys like Seth and Fry stepping up and communicating to lead the offensive line to lead and we follow.

On playing defense for the first time:
“This is the most fun I’ve had since I’ve been in college football and I love the defense and our whole organization in general. I really appreciate how this team puts Jesus in the center since I’m really trying to grow in that space. Everyone here is trying to push me to be my best self every day."
On earning the right to play defense:
“We take special teams very seriously here and show those guys all the time. Chris Olave is a big one they mention and I’m proving myself every single day by making plays there and then that will translate to the defense as well. I take pride in when I step on the field for every snap and want to be a leader in that space since I’m starting on all four special teams.”

On being settled into his position:
“It just felt natural I knew what I was doing and I felt fast doing it.”
On linebacker vs edge:
"I like linebacker more because I feel like I'm more free edge. I like edge too, but I like linebacker I'm more free and I can make a bunch of plays as linebacker."
On having a feel of what is coming before they run the play:
“That comes with watching film. I pretty much knew it was coming just from the mistakes I made that weekend but I cleaned up on it when I watched it.”
