COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off just its second loss of the season, the No. 4 ranked Ohio State tennis team will cap its spring break work with a match against UCF in Orlando. The match will be played at the USTA National Campus, home of the Knights and home of the 2023 NCAA Championship in May.
- This will be the second meeting this season between Ohio State and UCF. The Buckeyes rolled UCF 4-0 in the opening round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbus on Jan. 28. JJ Tracy, James Trotter and Robert Cash all picked up straight-set singles wins.
- Overall, this will be just the third all-time meeting between the teams. Ohio State also won 4-0 last year in Columbus.
- Ohio State is 15-2 on the season and is coming off a 4-1 setback at No. 5 South Carolina last Wednesday in Columbia, S.C. That was the Buckeye’s first outdoor match of the season.
- Six Buckeyes are ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings. JJ Tracy leads the way at No. 20, followed by James Trotter at No. 26, Cannon Kingsley at No. 39, Alexander Bernard at No. 52, Justin Boulais at No. 58 and Robert Cash at No. 116.
- Tracy and Andrew Lutschaunig are No. 2 in the country in the doubles rankings while Lutschaunig and Trotter are up to a season-high No. 7.
- UCF has a big week as they will also host Texas on Saturday afternoon. The Knights are 4-8 overall and are coming off a 4-2 win over SMU in their AAC opener on Sunday in Dallas. UCF also played on the road against two other Big Ten teams, falling 5-2 at Illinois and 4-1 at Nebraska.
