Last week in Buckeye Athletics!
Congratulations to the men’s tennis doubles team of Robert Cash and JJ Tracy, who won the season-opening, national ITA All-American championship with five consecutive wins without losing a set, including over the No. 1 seed from Tennessee.

The women’s tennis team also competed at the All-American championships, which were held in Tulsa, Okla.

Women’s soccer controlled the match for the majority of the game but ultimately fell to No. 4 Penn State, 2-1, on Sunday. The Buckeyes are 7-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Big Ten.

The men’s golf team finished as the runner-up to Alabama in the 11-team Hamptons Invitational last week at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, N.Y. Led by Top 5 finishes from Max Maldovan and Neal Shipley, Ohio State carded the best score on the final day, an 11-uner 277 total.

The field hockey team defeated Kent, 3-0, Sunday after dropping a 2-1 decision to No. 14 Penn State. The team is now 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten.
A split of its two matches – a win over Rutgers and a five-set loss at No. 14 Penn State – has the women’s volleyball team at 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten.

The men’s hockey team opened the season with 12 new players taking the ice in a 4-3 win at Mercyhurst.

Men’s soccer played to back-to-back scoreless draws against Xavier and Michigan, with the latter draw in front of a terrific crowd of 2,521 fans, and is now 3-4-4 overall and 1-2-1 in the Big Ten.

The rifle team opened its season with a narrow defeat at Nebraska, 4,698-4,684.
