This season, the floor of the OSU Ice Rink will feature a logo celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Buckeye women’s hockey
COLUMBUS, Ohio Preparations for the 2008-09 Ohio State women’s hockey season continued Thursday with the painting of the floor of the OSU Ice Rink. Along with the usual Ohio State athletics logo at center ice, there will be a new logo this season as the Buckeye women’s hockey program celebrates its 10th season.
While it has been over 90 degrees outside this week, the Buckeyes are already focusing in on the upcoming season. Returning members of the team came back to Columbus for strength and conditioning testing the last two weeks. The seven incoming freshmen report to campus Monday, the same day the Buckeyes can begin skating.
After two weeks of training and practice, Ohio State has an exhibition tune-up against Wilfrid Laurier, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes will officially open their 10th season the first weekend of October, with a nonconference series at Providence.
The following weekend, Ohio State returns to Columbus to celebrate alumni weekend and the retirement of the program’s first jersey former All-American Emma Laaksonen. The Buckeye home-opener will be against NCAA runner-up Wisconsin, Oct. 10-11.
