Defensive coordinator Jim Heacock and passing game/quarterbacks coach Joe Daniels spoke to the media Wednesday to talk about Saturday night’s game at No. 22 Penn State (ABC, 8 p.m. ET).
Jim Heacock, defensive coordinator
On Penn State
“I have been here for each one of these great games. You have got two schools with good tradition, good coaches and great players. It is going to be a battle.”
On OSU’s team mentality
“I don’t know if I could tell you. I can tell you that they have not changed; that they are still taking things a game at a time and that success hasn’t seemed to affect them.”
On Anthony Morelli
“What can you say about him (Morelli)? He is a senior quarterback and he is making good decisions. He is playing great; he is playing like a senior.”
Joe Daniels, passing game coordinator/quarterbacks
On recruiting in Pennsylvania
“You go back through the years and many noteworthy guys have come from there (Pennsylvania). We felt we needed to get back into the mix. Not 10-15 guys a year, but a select few and go after them.”
On his relationship with Joe Paterno
“It began back in 1964 when I had just finished playing. I got the chance to go and help out at one of his quarterback camps and it has been going ever since.”
On Ohio State and Penn State
“Well if you look at both programs you have stability in both coaching staffs and good players. I think we are still a big rival to Penn State. We are on their schedule every year, just like us and Michigan.”
