Taylor Scores Top 5 for United States in Shot Put at 2003 Pan American Games – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State All-American thrower Dan Taylor (Sr./Middlefield, Ohio/ Berkshire) competed for the United States in the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Tuesday evening in the men’s shot put finals. Taylor, the lone collegiate competitor on the U.S. squad, heaved a throw of 64-7.25 (19.69 meters) to claim fourth place behind bronze medal-winner Brad Snyder of Canada (65-11.50/ 20.10m). Fellow American Reese Hoffa of Athens, Ga. claimed the gold medal with a Pan American record effort of 68-8.75 (20.95m).
Taylor, in his first senior international competition, joins fellow Ohio State thrower Amarchi Ukabam (So./ Creve Couer, Mo./ Marquette) as a Top 5 performer in the Pan American Games, as Ukabam took the discus title at the Junior Pan Am Games in Barbados last month.
