Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 15 Notre Dame, 8-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 33 Ohio State women’s tennis team fell to No. 15 Notre Dame, 8-1, Thursday at Laurel Hill Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio. The Buckeyes fell to 7-2 (1-0 Big Ten) on the season, while the Irish improved to 9-4.%^$
%^$ Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich.) claimed the Buckeyes’ only win with a three-set victory at No. 2 over Becky Varnum (7-5, 4-6, 6-1). She remains undefeated in the spring with a perfect 8-0 record. No. 36 ranked Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla.) lost to No. 48 Michelle Dasso at the No. 1 spot, while Sadhaf Pervez (Fr., Warren, N.J.) fell in three sets at No. 4%^$
%^$ Ohio State was swept in the three doubles matches. Michelle Matko (So., Aurora, Ill.) and Claudia Castro (So., Dublin, Ohio) lost in a close match, 9-8(7), to Sarah Scaringe and Kelly Zalinski at No. 2.%^$
%^$ The Buckeyes’ next two opponents are also ranked in the Top 25. Ohio State will be back in action when they face No. 21 Kentucky, March 10 in Lexington, Ky. and then travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to go up against the No. 18 Volunteers, March 11.%^$
