Former Buckeye Named Starting Goalie in ECHL All-Star Game – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State goaltender Jeff Maund was named the starting goaltender for the Southern Conference in the East Coast Hockey League All-Star Game today, the league office announced. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the 14,108-seat BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina and will be broadcast on espn2 on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
Maund, the only All-American goaltender in Ohio State history, is currently under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks and playing for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. He was named the ECHL’s Rookie of the Month in December after helping Florida to a 12-game winning streak. Maund was a perfect 6-0-0 in the month of December and boasted a 2.05 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. Overall, Maund ranks second in the ECHL with a 2.17 GAA and fourth with a .923 save percentage.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Maund is Ohio State’s all-time leader in career goals against average (2.35). He led Ohio State to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1998 and ’99, and tied the OSU single-season record for wins in a season (22) in 1998. Despite playing for just two years, Maund ranks sixth all-time at OSU with 42 career victories. He is one of only three goaltenders in OSU history to record 1,000 saves in a season.
