Field Hockey’s Schwartz named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Goalkeeper Anna Schwartz(Melbourne, Australia), has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. Schwartz is coming off a spectacular two-game weekend. On Sunday against No. 16 Iowa, she recorded her fourth shutout in just seven career games and collected a career high 10 saves in OSU’s 1-0 overtime win. On Friday against Northwestern, she was instrumental with seven key saves in OSU’s 3-2 win.
“Anna has come in and proven she can excel at this level,” OSU head coach Anne Wilkinson said. “And the best is still yet to come.”
The Buckeyes are currently ranked No. 13 in the country with a 6-1 overall record. In the Big Ten, they are 2-0, which ties them for first place with No. 9 Michigan and No. 4 Penn State. OSU will play host to Central Michigan tomorrow at 4 p.m. and Penn State, Sunday at noon.
