1996-97 (Sophomore) – Named Co-Most Dedicated Wrestler along with Robert Archer…a Big Ten finalist and NCAA qualifier…seeded eighth at the NCAAs, he missed earning All-America honors (top eight) by one match…won his first two matches, before losing to No. 1 seed and eventual national champion (Mark Ironside of Iowa 9-8) in the quarterfinals…seeded second, he finished runner-up at the Big Ten Championships, losing 18-5 (to Ironside)…after being unranked the entire season, he moved into the No. 8 position in the final Amatuer Wrestling News individual poll…8-1 in Big Ten duals finished second on the team in takedowns with 100 and second for points scored with 86.5.
1995-96 (Freshman) – Wrestled at 134 or 142 in 12 of the Buckeyes’ dual matches…recorded 34 takedowns and 29 team points en route to a 12-11 record…placed fourth in the Michigan Open and sixth at the Las Vegas Invitational…was not seeded in either meet.
Rogers High School – Took third place at the 1995 high school national championships…placed second in the state his senior year and sixth as a junior…was a district champion, section champion and city champion in each of those years…had a career record of 107-23-1…academically, was fifth in a class of 275 with a 4.11 GPA.
