DT Michael Bennett is a 6th round NFL Draft pick – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Team captain and All-American defensive tackle Michael Bennett was selected in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft today by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bennett is the 180th overall pick in this year’s draft.
Bennett joins wide receiver Devin Smith, who went in the 2nd round (No. 37 overall) to the New York Jets, tight end Jeff Heuerman, taken in the 3rd round (No. 92) by the Denver Broncos and cornerback Doran Grant, taken in the 4th round (No. 121) by Pittsburgh, as Buckeyes taken in this year’s draft.
Bennett was a CBSSports.com first-team All-America as a senior after a 41-tackle, 14.5-tackles-for-loss season. He set a Big Ten championship game record with four TFLs and two forced fumbles in the win vs. Wisconsin. He had a sack vs. No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl win. Bennett was also named third-team All-America by the Associated Press and second-team all-Big Ten Conference. He was Ohio State’s nominee for the Senior CLASS Award.
A four-year letterman from Centerville, Ohio and Centerville High School, the 6-2, 288-pound Bennett was a leader in the locker room and on the playing field. He wore teammate, line-mate and deceased friend Kosta Karageorge’s No. 53 jersey number throughout the Buckeyes’ three-game post-season run that culminated in the school winning its eighth national championship.
Bennett played in 49 games during his career and started 28 times, including starting all 15 games in 2014. He finished with 110 career tackles and 31.5 TFLs. His 18.0 career QB sacks are tied for 8th all-time at Ohio State.
