COLUMBUS, Ohio – Twenty members of the Ohio State field hockey team – the most in program history – were named to the 2020 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad. The program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.
This marks the 16th-consecutive season the Buckeyes have recorded nine or more team members on the national academic list. The Buckeyes’ 20 members of the squad represent 87 percent of their total roster.
Three members of the list – Maura Hunter, Sammy Stone and Julianna Sweeney – earned this prestigious recognition for the fourth time. First-time honorees include Mackenzie Allessie, Lotte Algra, Abby Danson, Louise Fobe, Ali Gordon, Megan McKenna and Sarah Richards.
Last December, 15 Buckeyes were named Academic All-Big Ten, which honors student-athletes who have a 3.0 grade-point average or better and be in at least their second year on campus.
