COLUMBUS, Ohio–Alumni from the Ohio State men’s and women’s golf programs will return to the Scarlet Course on Monday, July 10, for the 15th Annual Buckeye Pro-Am Classic. The tournament, which benefits the OSU Golf Scholarship Fund and course improvements, begins at 10 a.m. and admission to the event is free. Former Buckeyes Ted Tryba and Amy Langhals will chair the 2000 event.
Nearly $1 million has been raised since the Pro-Am’s inception with nearly $650,000 directed toward endowed scholarships. The remaining proceeds have been used for improvements to the OSU Golf Courses, rated the No. 1 collegiate facility in the country by Golf Digest.
Other alumni that will be joining Tryba (1986-89) and Langhals (1994-97) will be: Chris Perry (1981-84), John Cook (1977-79), Cathy Kratzert-Gerring (1981-83), Judy Ellis-Sams (1977-80), Joey Sindelar (1978-81), Ed Sneed (1965-66), Chris Smith (1988-91) and Tom Weiskopf.
“This is one of our premier events with many of our former players coming back from the pro-tours to help raise money for scholarships, said Ohio State men’s golf coach Jim Brown. “Everybody looks forward to it. The admission is free and we hope to have a lot of people at the tournament.”
