Humphrey Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Maddy Humphrey, a freshman forward/midfielder on the Ohio State field hockey team, has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today. It’s Humphrey’s third honor this season.
Humphrey compiled seven points last week in games against Rutgers and Kent State. Against the Scarlet Knights, she had a goal and an assist, and followed that performance up with a two-goal effort in a 3-1 victory over Kent State on Sunday.
A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Humphrey leads Ohio State is goals (11) and points (30). In the Big Ten, she ranks fourth in points (first among freshmen), fifth in points per game (2.31), sixth in goals and seventh in assists. Nationally, she is 10th in points per game, 21st in goals per game and 24th in assists per game. Humphrey has at least one point in eight of the last nine games and multiple points in six of the last nine games. The Buckeyes are 5-2 this year when Humphrey had multiple points.
Ohio State (5-8) returns to action on Friday, Oct. 17, when it travels to Bloomington, Ind. to face No. 18 Indiana at 3 p.m. The Buckeyes return home on Sunday, Oct. 19, for a 1 p.m. game against No. 12 Iowa.
