COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State point guard Carmen Grande has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Preseason Watch List as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Monday.
Grande is one of 20 players on the preseason list. The award annually recognizes the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. To be considered to this prestigious award, candidates exhibit the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills of Class of 1996 Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman.
The Madrid, Spain native is three assists shy of 700 for her career and currently has 10 more assists than any active DI men’s or women’s college basketball player. She was second in the country last season at 9.2 assists per game and has 24 games of 10 or more assists in her career.
