COLUMBUS, Ohio – A third quarter run helped Ohio State open a comfortable lead and the Buckeyes would ride that to a 72-50 exhibition win on Sunday over IUP.
Carly Santoro and Dorka Juhász led the way with 14 points apiece while Janai Crooms and Aaliyah Patty each chipped-in with 12 points. Makayla Waterman scored eight points and pulled-down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Crooms scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter on a couple of steals and lay-ins. The Buckeyes would lead by just five points at the break, 31-26. In the third, Santoro made back-to-back threes and added a fast-break lay-in to spark a 14-2 run midway through the quarter. That allowed the Buckeyes to build as much as a 23-point advantage.
In addition to her eight points and 10 rebounds, Waterman led the team with team-highs of three assists and two blocks to go with three steals. Juhász was just a rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.
