COLUMBUS, Ohio-Kyle Young, who will be a senior on the 2020-21 Ohio State men’s basketball team, will graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport industry Sunday. He will begin a graduate program in sport management this fall.
Young, an academic All-Big Ten winner in both 2019 and 2020, was an Ohio State Scholar Athlete in 2020 and recently was named to the 2019-20 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for academic excellence.
On the court, the 6-8 forward helped the Buckeyes to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019 and had the team headed in the same direction before the 2020 NCAA Tournament was canceled.
Over 81 career games, Young has averaged 5.1 points and 4.0 rebounds after career highs in 2019-20 (7.5/5.8).
From the field, he has scored on 60 percent of his shots (169-282).
Trevor Thompson, who lettered at Ohio State in men’s basketball from 2016-17, has completed Ohio State’s Degree Completion Program with a degree in sport industry.
Thompson played in 67 games, starting 48 during his time in the Scarlet and Gray. He averaged 8.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while blocking 90 shots from the center position.
Since leaving Ohio State to pursue a professional career, Thompson has played with the Santa Cruz Warriors (G-League) in the United States and then overseas for a variety of teams. He recently played for the Red Scare, a team primarily made up of the University of Dayton basketball alumni, in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). The event was played in Columbus at Nationwide Arena from July 4-14.
