Competing amongst the finest gymnasts in America, Yoder’s and Melton’s gymnastics skills were on full display Thursday evening leading to some solid scores. Melton registered the fifth-highest all-around score of the day with a 82.850 to go along with the No. 1 score on the rings (14.550); he added a 14.100 on the floor to earn a sixth-place finish, and he scored a 13.500 on the high bar for the seventh-best tally of the 46 athlete session.
Yoder’s primetime performances came on the pommel horse (14.850) and parallel bars (14.150); both of those scores were the second-best scores in the evening session. Sean Junior Neighbarger scored a 14.550 on the vault to register his best finish of the night, a fourth-place showing. Max Andryushchenko, who competed alongside 31 other junior athletes in the afternoon session, had his best performance of the day on the vault; he produced a vault of 14.200 to claim the third-highest score of the afternoon session.
